Question @ IMF Leadership

It is really shameful that the IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been accused of assaulting a maid in a luxury New York City hotel. He has been denied a bail and has been sent to a jail. This act has sent shock-waves throughout the world. He was a man who was in charge of overseeing the world economy and was tipped to be France’s next President. His arrest and subsequent jail is also extremely embarrassing for the IMF. Apart from dealing with a leadership crisis the IMF is now facing serious questions about whether it let Strauss-Kahn off too lightly in 2008 after he was caught in an extra-marital affair with an economist who was his subordinate. There are persistent rumors afloat inside the IMF that he often made unwanted sexual advances to other women during his tenure with IMF.

Why is it that many nationally and internationally reputed leaders are involved in sex scandals? We have been witnessing many such cases. It is found that many leaders have unfulfilled sexual life and their unfulfilled sexual desires have led to many kinds of perversions. It seems an unfulfilled sex life has something to do with stress, and the stressed life also has something to do with unfulfilled sex life. They seem to have some intricate connection. All the repressions and suppressions of emotions eventually surface in some kind of psychosomatic diseases. And the true art of expression is never going to be possible unless all kinds of suppressions and repressions are dissolved. The contentment of sex is a prerequisite for a better leadership and inspiring leadership. Leadership is a far bigger responsibility. It is a far bigger vision. It is the greatest art of leading a team and leading a nation. It is a right action for the betterment of the nation and also for the betterment of the people. Peter Drucker, the Management Guru, says, “Leadership means doing right things”.

Lust and love are in some way intricately connected. Love in its lover form is called sex, and sex in its higher form is called love. It is the same energy and it can be transformed. And the same love can be further transformed into compassion. We can move from lust to love, and we can also move from sex to supreme consciousness. Enlightened Leadership aims towards creating bliss, love, and compassion. It is aiming towards awakening one’s consciousness and awareness, and leading with love and compassion. The lowest form of the energy is at the “Muladhara” (Root Chakra) and the highest form of the same energy is at the “Sahasrara” (Crown Chakra). And the whole art of moving this energy from the Root Chakra to the Crown Chakra is called the “Kundalini Yoga.

Deepak on Enlightened Leadership

For years now Deepak Chopra is teaching a course on “Enlightened Leadership” at Nothwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. After the consequences of global recession and extreme political unrest for the last couple of years he strongly feels that it is now time for a different kind of leadership. He has been emphasizing the importance of an enlightened leadership to business leaders at Ernst & Young, Pepsi and Cisco. He strongly believes that the U.S. leadership has become ineffective and needs a change in the leadership domain. He feels that enlightened leadership will be most appropriate for the current economic and social situation that the country is facing. He feels that the U.S. corporate and political leadership has almost lead to bankruptcy. He feels that we should nurture leadership that aims at unlocking the highest human potential. He says that the Wall Street has almost broken because it succumbed to greed, corruption, and pure speculation without any values. He talks great about President Obama and he says that he is an exception and he fulfills all the criteria that he talks about in his book The Soul of Leadership.

When asked about what is Enlightened Leadership he says, “It is a kind of leadership that unlocks the potential for greatness in the leader and those that follow the leader. Enlightened Leadership is spiritual if we understand spirituality not as some kind of religious dogma or ideology but as the domain of awareness where we experience values like truth, goodness, beauty, love and compassion, and also intuition, creativity, insight and focused attention. These are the ingredients of success, really”.

Leadership of New Millennium !!

Congratulations, President Barack Obama !! This is what you deserve from the people around the world who love peace and who condemn terrorism. The whole credit always goes to the Leader and his brave Team. Both deserve attention and respect from the entire world. Good job done !! The whole team under him deserve kudos for the end of Osama Bin Laden. Barack Obama truly deserved the Nobel Prize conferred on him. This is only a beginning of an end of terrorism. And of course, a very important beginning. Only 40 minutes and 40 commandos and the whole job got done so well. What a feat? What an achievement? This goes without saying that what President Bush couldn’t do, President Obama could do. This is the differentiation. This is what is called the leadership with a difference. This is the leadership edge. There are two kinds of leaders. One, the leader who demands respect. Two, the leader who commands respect. The brave President Obama falls in the category of leaders who command respect. This type of leadership creates a pull factor and it does not believe in the push factor. This is what is called a charisma. The whole of USA must be celebrating this victory. And why not?

In India we celebrate the festival of Dussehra in memory of the event of “Ravana” being killed by “Rama”. This festival is being celebrated in India as a metaphor for the victory of the “Good” over “Evil”. And this good and evil is there in every human being in some form or the other. And to me, metaphorically, “Rama” means an enlightened “Ravana”, and “Ravana” means an unenlightened “Rama”. They are two sides of the same coin. They are two polarities of the same phenomenon. And the path to “Enlightenment” is a journey of moving from one end of the polarity to the other end of the polarity. And in the experience of “Oneness” all the polarities are dissolved.

All the peace loving people and all those who condemn violence and terrorism around the world must celebrate this victory. This is an important achievement and President Barack Obama deserves a second term on this account. Indian Leadership should take note of this important and positive development in the history of positive efforts in eradicating terrorism, and learn to take such brave decisions to prove the leadership that commands respect and deserves respect. USA has been very successful in getting their most wanted. What about India getting her most wanted?
